On 12 August 2026, the Danube Tower became one of Vienna’s most remarkable locations for experiencing the partial solar eclipse. Shortly before sunset, visitors were able to watch the rare celestial event from heights of up to 170 metres, with unobstructed views across Vienna and towards the western horizon.

The partial solar eclipse began in Vienna at around 7:22 p.m. and created an extraordinary spectacle in the evening sky. Numerous guests watched the partially eclipsed sun from the Danube Tower’s observation terraces, the Turm Café and the Turm Restaurant.

A Solar Eclipse High Above Vienna

As Austria’s tallest structure, the Danube Tower offered exceptional conditions for observing the solar eclipse.

From the observation terraces at 150 and 155 metres, the Turm Café at 160 metres and the Turm Restaurant at 170 metres, visitors enjoyed sweeping views across Vienna and towards the setting sun.

To ensure safe viewing, the Danube Tower provided complimentary solar eclipse glasses on the day of the event.

As Austria’s tallest structure, it quickly became clear to us that we wanted to give our guests the opportunity to experience this special event from the Danube Tower,” said Roman Bauer, Managing Director of the Danube Tower Vienna.
