Energy Efficiency at the Danube Tower Vienna
The Danube Tower continuously invests in technical upgrades to reduce energy consumption and CO₂ emissions. As Austria’s tallest landmark, operating efficiently and responsibly is an important part of its long-term commitment to sustainability.
Upgrading to Energy-Efficient LED Technology
As part of an energy-saving initiative, the illumination system used to light the Danube Tower was upgraded to modern LED technology.
Three high-pressure mercury lamps with a combined output of approximately 6.5 kW were replaced by three energy-efficient LED floodlights with a total output of approximately 0.6 kW.
This modernisation significantly reduced both energy consumption and carbon emissions.
Annual Savings
The switch to LED technology delivers annual savings of approximately:
- 20,000 kWh of energy
- 8,000 kg of CO₂ emissions
These improvements help make the operation of the Danube Tower more energy-efficient and environmentally responsible.
Sustainability at the Danube Tower
The lighting upgrade is one of several measures aimed at improving energy efficiency throughout the Danube Tower.
Alongside modern building technology, ongoing technical upgrades and digital solutions, these initiatives help reduce resource consumption while maintaining a high-quality visitor experience.
A Step Towards a More Sustainable Future
Sustainability is an ongoing process. The Danube Tower continuously evaluates new opportunities to improve energy efficiency, reduce resource consumption and lower CO₂ emissions.
By combining innovation, modern technology and responsible resource management, the Danube Tower continues to evolve as one of Vienna’s most iconic landmarks.
